Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between boys and girls lacrosse sticks?

Girls lacrosse sticks have a shallow pocket, boys pockets are deep and "hide" the ball. Girls sticks can have all types of materials to make up the pocket, mesh, leather, string, etc.

How do you determine if a stick is "legal"?

The top of the ball must remain visible when pressure has been applied and released in both the back and front face of the pocket. The ball must move freely in the front face of the pocket and the upper third of the back face of the pocket.

Is there a place I can check that I have a girls stick?

YES! Here is a list of all "legal" women's sticks: https://www.usalacrosse.com/legal-womens-sticks

What do the goggles look like?

Here are some examples:

What surfaces will we be playing on? What footwear is best?

We recommend cleats! The girls should expect to play on turf and grass at different points during the year.
